Trivia: The first film produced by John Wayne, it was not a big hit when it was released but it is now the John Wayne movie most frequently broadcast on TV. Actor Bruce Cabot starred as Jack Driscoll in the original King Kong. Writer and Director James Edward Grant was a close friend of Wayne who also wrote screenplays for many other John Wayne films, including The Alamo and McClintock. In 1958 he received an Oscar nomination for Best Screenplay for the film The Sheepmen.
