Apache chief Winnetou attempts to keep the peace when white settlers encroach on Apache territory. But a greedy oilman who wants to seize the land tries to escalate the conflict by attacking wagon trains and white settlements and then framing the Apaches.

Trivia: Actor Lex Barker (Old Shatterhand) is best known for starring in five Tarzan movies in the 1950s. His third wife was the actress Lana Turner. Karin Dor (Ribanna) played a Bond girl in You Only Live Twice (1967). This movie is also known as Winnetou: The Red Gentleman, based on a story by the popular German author Karl May.
