As the Texan militia inside the Alamo prepares for Gen. Santa Ana's attack, John Stroud (Glenn Ford) is sent away on a mission to warn a neighboring town that it's in danger but arrives too late. Branded a deserter for having left the Alamo before its fall, Stroud sets out to get revenge.

Trivia: Director Budd Boetticher went to live in Mexico after graduating from Ohio State University. During his time there he became a professional matador and upon his return to the States he used this knowledge to become a technical advisor for movies on, which led to his stellar career as a film director.
