Danny O'Moore (Mickey Rooney) travels West from New York to pay his big brother a surprise visit. When a Texas Ranger (Robert Preston) saves him from an outlaw attack, they discover they are both looking for the same man, for Danny's brother Patrick (Robert Stack) has become an outlaw.

Trivia: Mickey Rooney was a star of silent movies as a child and was the first teenager nominated for an Oscar. Robert Preston and Robert Stack were both nominated for Best Supporting Actor Oscars: Victoria, Victoria (1982) and Written on the Wind (1956). Based on the book South of the Rio Grande by Max Brand.
