After the Civil War, a family moves to Nevada to escape a Kentucky feud, but the feud follows them westward and they wind up in the middle of a land war. Shirley Temple (Mary Stanley) appears in one of her earliest roles.

Trivia: Henry Hathaway directed True Grit (1969) as well as a number of well-known Western movies, including How the West Was Won and The Sons of Katie Elder. Based on a story by Zane Grey, this movie is also known as Law of Vengeance.
